Any problem is only a problem in the way you think, and changing your thinking is easier than you think.
The many benefits of Hypnotherapy are becoming widely recognized, as it weaves a common thread through the healing arts and sciences.
This article highlights how Hypnotherapy can be used to optimise women’s fertility.
Brain cells are in constant communication with every other cell in the body. Because of this every thought that you think is “heard” by your heart, liver, stomach, your immune system, and every other part of your body, including your reproductive system.
Thoughts can therefore initiate muscular, chemical, hormonal and neurological changes. For this reason you can have a conscious influence over many “involuntary” systems of the body, including the hormones involved in reproduction.
Stress, anxiety, harsh emotions and unresourceful beliefs also effect the nerve cells that send messages to all parts of the body, including the reproductive organs. This can result not only in infertility, but also other dysfunctions and dis-ease of the body.
In 2006, in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, women’s fertility expert, Dr Berga, reported that women who did not ovulate had excessive levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, in the brain fluid. A cascade of events, beginning with stress, leads to reduced levels of two hormones crucial for ovulation.
Hypnotherapy, in its very nature, is stress reducing.
Dr. Christiane Northrup, author of ‘Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom’ tells us: “Women are almost never told how their family histories, beliefs, and emotions affect their fertility. Knowing this information can be very empowering”. And that’s just the start…
Discovers in Psychoneuroimmunology (mind-body research) indicate that it’s our predominant unconscious attitudes and beliefs that have an even greater effect on our level of health and wellness (including fertility) than the conscious thoughts which we may prefer to have about these matters. Therefore positively influencing the unconscious processes of our awareness can have tremendous healing benefits.
The value of effecting change in the Unconscious Mind for the purpose of healing makes sense when you consider one definition of the Unconscious Mind (the sub-conscious) to be “the collective intelligence of all cells in your body”.
Discoveries in Epigenetics (the study of how environmental signals regulate gene activity) inform us that we are not victims of our genetic code, and that we can influence what happens in our cells. Cell Biologist, Dr Bruce Lipton makes it clear that our perception controls both our behaviour and our gene activity!
Hypnotherapy is the most effective way to transform our limiting or negative perceptions into realistic perceptions that are useful to us. In this way Hypnotherapy can be used to heal the past, so that we can experience the present with greater conscious awareness and therefore be proactive in our actions toward the future that we desire.
Applied to fertility, Hypnotherapy utilizes the mind-body connection to heal the cause of stress and anxiety in this context, and have a positive influence on one’s attitudes and beliefs about pregnancy, as well as optimising the function of the reproductive system and all its organs down to cellular level.
The use of Hypnotherapy for this purpose includes specific relaxation techniques, relevant guided visualisations, and effective forms of suggestion to bring about appropriate changes at the unconscious level. These changes generally include physical healing as well as integration of constructive beliefs and attitudes.
Dr Marilyn Glenville, PHD, Author of ‘Getting Pregnant Faster and Natural Solutions to Infertility’, explains in her book that there is enough evidence to suggest that Hypnotherapy has an effect on fertility as it utilises the power of the mind to work for you rather than against you, is helpful in reducing stress levels and addresses emotional blockages at the sub-conscious level. She further adds that Hypnotherapy helps deal with any concerns or doubts that a woman may have about her future role as a mother.
Hypnotherapy can also positively influence the immune system. Dr Jeffrey Braverman, MD FACOG, Director or Reproductive Immunology at Wykoff Heights Medical Centre and Braverman Reproductive Technology, New York, emphasises that relaxation and reduction of stress helps improve immune system compliance. According to Dr Alan Beer, MD, in his book “Is Your Body Baby Friendly”, Mind Body Therapy (ie, Hypnotherapy) can help reduce the immune system burden and assist in the release of negative emotions.
Specific visualisations included in Hypnotherapy play an important role in optimising fertility. The Optimum Fertility Stress Reduction and Mind Body Audio Programmes make use of therapeutic visualisations around the different phases in a women’s reproductive cycle. According to Dr Sami David, author of ‘The Fertility Plan’, Chinese medicine asserts that where you place your mind is where your Qi (Life Energy) will follow.
Mathew Manning, outlines in his book, ‘Your Mind Can Heal Your Body’, that vivid imagery stimulates the same parts of the brain as the real thing, sending messages to the limbic system, autonomic nervous system as well as the endocrine system (endocrine system is the control centre for hormones including the cortisol and adrenaline stress hormones).
Studies conducted at Harvard Medical School on 184 women going through relaxation training for infertility showed that 55% had a viable pregnancy within one year, compared to only 20% of the control group achieving a viable pregnancy.
Once you realise that, to a large extent, optimal fertility is the result of the influence that life has had on your unconscious conditioning and stress level, then you can take conscious control of this matter to cultivate the internal environment that’s fertile for life.
Now the benefits of Hypnotherapy to optimise woman’s fertility is available to people around the world. Jevon Dängeli has partnered with Fertility Coach Kathy Gillham to create 2 ground-breaking audio programmes.
